As promised here is the first of 3 new episodes to make up for my getting busy/ coming down with pneumonia.
It was a slight challenge getting a hold of Director Lixin Fan. After all, his prestigious award-winning documentary film LAST TRAIN HOME had him being invited to festivals left, right and center. Not bad for a Canadian film and a debut feature for this young director from China.
The podcast is of course the edited, film focused version, but I’ll make the entire Skype interview (a full 30+ mins.) available should people be interested. We went more into depth about the Zhang family as well as freedom of expression and censorship while working within China. And then we also talked about food and his thoughts upon landing in Toronto (Scarborough) when he first came.

Now if you have any questions that relate to the podcast or the state of J-Pop or K-pop in general, you can write about it in the forums, leave a comment to Christine’s page to just say hi, or even write a little bit about yourself so other POP 88 listens can know who you are.
We’re thinking about giving out some prizes to people who participate in POP 88’s community site, so join today!
The site is going to be going under some heavy renovation from now until November. I’m very excited as I’m completely in love with the new logo. Please look forward to the many surprises that we’re currently preparing for our relaunch. Until then, I’ll just be releasing non-stop music mixes that are a bit on the low maintenance side and doesn’t involve such a heavy production as my usual shows.
This episode you’ll hear the latest in house music including new CHEMISTRY, Tenjochiki aka The Grace, PUFFY AmiYumi and Clazziquai Project.
Again, if you would like to support the podcast, please do so by supporting the artist and buying their music using the links provided.
Still taking requests, so you can leave a comment at Popcast88.com or send an email to christine [at] popcast88.com.
