In response to superstitions, i.e. washing your hair. Yes, I don’t wash my hair for the Lunar New Year. I’ve followed that tradition all my life, so my whole family usually wash up right before the clock strikes midnight. I’m usually the last one and I finish washing at 11:30ish.

So as soon as my mom gives us the ok (the next day or so) we all rush to wash our hair again LOL.

Along with that tradition, we abstain from touching or using anything that has a sharp edge to it. So no knives or scissors. All the food is cut up before the New Year. The idea is so that we don’t cut our life short, or something like that.
